Leicester City will face Preston without Jannik Vestergaard as he serves a suspension for their upcoming Championship clash. In the previous game against Blackburn Rovers, Vestergaard was chosen over Conor Coady as the center-back. Coady had just returned from an injury and played the full 90 minutes against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup.
With Vestergaard out due to his fifth yellow card of the season, it seems that Coady will now have the opportunity to make his league debut for City in the game against Preston on Wednesday night. Vestergaard received the yellow card for a foul near the edge of the area in the second half of the Blackburn game, which City was leading 2-1 thanks to goals from Wout Faes and Jamie Vardy. However, replays suggest that there was minimal contact, if any.
Due to the suspension, Vestergaard will now serve a one-match ban. In addition, City may also be without Kasey McAteer for the Preston game as he sustained an injury during the match against Blackburn. The academy graduate pulled up holding his hamstring while chasing the ball, and he was only on the field for around 15 minutes after coming on as a substitute in the second half.
Enzo Maresca, the team’s coach, will provide an update on McAteer’s condition during his post-match press conference. However, it appears unlikely that McAteer will be available for the midweek clash at the King Power Stadium.
