After identifying Dewsbury-Hall’s tendency to try and do everything himself, Maresca and his coaching staff worked with him during the previous break to improve his decision-making. By encouraging him to be more patient and recognize better-placed teammates, Dewsbury-Hall’s performances improved significantly. He went on to contribute three goals and two assists in the following matches, showcasing his growth under Maresca’s guidance.
While some aspects of the team’s performance can only be enhanced through practice and experience, Maresca believes that focusing on individual development will ultimately lead to overall team improvement.
