Despite concerns over his injury, Son Heung-min was determined to play in South Korea’s friendly against Vietnam. The 31-year-old had sat on the bench in their previous match but managed to complete a full 90 minutes and even scored a goal in their convincing victory. South Korea’s medical staff had revealed that Son was nursing a groin injury, and towards the end of the game against Vietnam, he displayed signs of discomfort. However, his coach, Jurgen Klinsmann, decided to keep him on the pitch, stating that the injury had not worsened. Son, when asked about his decision to play, acknowledged the inevitability of injuries in a footballer’s life. He expressed his gratitude to his coach for respecting his choice to participate despite not being able to participate much in training. Klinsmann confirmed that the plan was always for Son to play the entire match, and the injury did not resurface during the game. Son will now return to London for Tottenham’s upcoming Premier League match against Fulham on Monday.
