Tony Mowbray has acknowledged that several Sunderland players were absent from training today ahead of their upcoming match against Championship leaders Leicester City. The team’s recent performance has been disappointing, with a defeat to Stoke City and a 4-0 home loss to Middlesbrough. As a result, Sunderland dropped from fourth to sixth in the table.
Their upcoming match presents an even greater challenge, as they face a Leicester City side on a seven-game winning streak and dominating the league. Adding to the frustration for Sunderland fans, Mowbray revealed that up to four players did not train with the first team today. However, he remained tight-lipped about their potential involvement in the game tomorrow.
Sunderland has already been plagued with injury problems this season, with several players sidelined including Corry Evans, who is not expected to return until the new year. Ajibola Alese, Jay Matete, and Dennis Cirkin are also expected to be out until November.
