Sporting Lisbon is delighted as Leicester City’s Abdul Fatawu scores his inaugural goal for the club, leaving them anticipating more success. Fatawu, a 19-year-old player on loan from Sporting Lisbon, joined Leicester on a temporary agreement until the season’s end. So far, he has displayed his potential in a Leicester jersey and has ample opportunity to strengthen and develop under Enzo Maresca.
According to Portuguese outlet Record, in the event of Leicester’s promotion to the Premier League, they will activate a €17 million (£14.8m) clause to purchase Fatawu. This particular condition of the loan deal, along with Fatawu’s impressive start in England, has Sporting Lisbon eagerly anticipatory.
After his goal against Swansea in the previous match, Fatawu hopes to continue scoring for the team. Maresca, the head coach of Leicester City, spoke about his wingers following the game, stating, “Stephy was exceptionally placed just in front of the bench during the first half, and we noticed the improvements we made during the international break. Abdul was positioned on the opposite side in the first half and later switched to our side, maintaining an offensive position. Though these may seem like minor details, they are significant.”
Maresca expressed his satisfaction for both players, particularly Stephy. He emphasized the importance of understanding the level of play required and commended Stephy for showcasing it in that match, stating, “If he can maintain this level of performance in every game, it will be a step forward for him.”
