Parker became available after a tough stint in Belgium with Club Brugge, where he was relieved of his duties in a matter of weeks. Despite this setback, Parker’s name is resurfacing again, this time in connection with Leicester City’s sister club, OH Leuven. The recent departure of Marc Brys has fueled speculation, especially given the previous links between Parker and Leicester. The Leicester Mercury has even suggested that Parker might be considered for the position.
While the rumor lacks concrete evidence, there are uncertainties regarding the direction OH Leuven will take. The team had a dominant 4-0 victory against Sint-Truiden in their first game without Brys, indicating that they are in no hurry to appoint a new head coach.
Although Parker does possess some experience in Belgium, his tenure at Club Brugge was far from successful. Managing only 12 matches, his downfall came after a crushing 5-1 defeat against Benfica in the Champions League. Perhaps a less pressured environment would suit Parker better than leading one of Belgium’s top clubs. He has achieved success with supposedly lower-ranked teams in England, such as Fulham and Bournemouth. Nonetheless, if OH Leuven were to pursue this direction, skepticism would likely arise among the club’s fan base.
