Reports suggest that Leicester City, along with six other British clubs, are closely monitoring the performance of Fluminense midfielder Jhon Arias ahead of the upcoming January transfer window.
Enzo Maresca, the City manager, aims to strengthen his squad further during the January window, following an impressive start to his tenure at the King Power Stadium. Under his guidance, City has triumphed in 15 out of their 17 games across all competitions, currently securing the top spot in the Championship.
During the summer transfer window, City successfully incorporated nine new players into their team, many of whom have had significant impacts. However, they may once again be active in January as they continue the rebuilding process after relegation.
According to TEAMtalk, Colombian international Arias is one of the players under City’s watchful gaze. At 26 years old, Arias possesses the versatility to play on either wing or in a central position.
In the current season, he has showcased his prowess by scoring nine goals and providing 15 assists in 53 appearances. City will have the opportunity to observe him further when Fluminense competes against Argentine side Boca Juniors in the Copa Libertadores final next weekend.
Nevertheless, City is not the sole club expressing interest. The report states that several other Premier League teams, including West Ham, Crystal Palace, Wolves, and Burnley, alongside Leeds United from the Championship and Scottish Premiership side Rangers, are also monitoring Arias.
Although Arias has a contract with Fluminense until 2026, sources suggest that he could become available for transfer once the January window commences. He joined Fluminense in the summer of 2021 from Colombian club Independiente Santa Fe.
