Injury: Daniel Farke gives injury update on six Leeds United players ahead of Leicester City clash

Leeds United’s head coach, Daniel Farke, has given an update on the availability of Joe Rodon, Sam Byram, and Crysencio Summerville for the upcoming match against Leicester City. Despite initial concerns, Farke has confirmed that all three players should be fit for the game if they do not experience any adverse reactions during training.

In their previous match against Huddersfield, Rodon, Byram, and Summerville had to be substituted in the second half due to muscle complaints. However, after successfully recovering from their issues, they have returned to training this week. This news comes as a relief for Leeds, who were already facing other injury concerns, including the absence of Djed Spence, who is currently not participating in team training. Farke anticipates Spence’s return within the next seven to fourteen days, with the expectation that he will be available after the international break.

On a positive note, Junior Firpo has resumed team training after completing his first full week of sessions. Farke revealed that the left-back is steadily progressing and has not experienced any setbacks. As a result, Firpo is in contention for the upcoming match.

Farke acknowledged the concerns surrounding Rodon, Byram, and Summerville in the last game, mentioning that he made the decision to substitute all three players for precautionary reasons. However, he assured that they received the necessary care and were able to train without issues today. Barring any negative reactions, all three individuals will be available for selection against Leicester City.

Unfortunately, Joe Gelhardt will be absent for the next few weeks due to a hand fracture. Further assessment will determine if surgery is required for his recovery.

As the match approaches, City holds a comfortable 14-point lead over Leeds, currently sitting in third place. City is also expected to have Yunus Akgun back from injury, and striker Tom Cannon has returned to training. A complete update on the squad’s fitness will be provided by Enzo Maresca during his media conference on Thursday.
