There’s a possibility that Charlie Cresswell may make a return to the Leeds United squad for their upcoming Championship match against Leicester on Friday. This speculation arises from comments made by Daniel Farke, suggesting that Cresswell could serve as a backup option in case Joe Rodon is unable to play a full 90 minutes due to a previous hamstring injury.
The Yorkshire Evening Post reported on November 1st that if Rodon is not cleared to play the entire match, Cresswell could feature in the squad as a safety measure. Farke himself has indicated that Cresswell will not be included in the Under-21’s squad playing elsewhere on the same night, implying that he is being considered for the important game against the Championship leaders.
However, if Rodon is fit and available, it would be unusual to see any changes to the squad composition as Liam Cooper has been the chosen substitute for the starting center-backs in recent weeks. Pascal Struijk and Rodon have established themselves as the first-choice defenders with impressive performances, and Cooper provides excellent backup support.
Cresswell was expected to have a more significant role this season after signing a new four-year contract in the summer.
