Tottenham Set to Sign 20-year-old Wonder kid – Newcastle United more interested

In addition to Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur is also closely monitoring the progress of Santos wonderkid Marcos Leonardo in Brazil.

Both clubs are keeping a close eye on the 20-year-old striker’s situation at Santos, as he is believed to be on the brink of a move to Europe.

Last summer, Marcos Leonardo had been in talks for a transfer to Italy, but Santos decided to retain him. Now, he and his team believe that it is time for him to make a move to a top league.

Despite their interest, Newcastle and Tottenham have not made any significant moves yet. They are observing his performances for Santos and waiting to determine whether a transfer attempt in the winter or summer would be worthwhile. AS Monaco and AS Roma have also shown interest in the player, with AS Roma having previously attempted to sign him.

Recent reports from Brazil suggest that a transfer fee of just €20-25m would be enough to secure his services. Santos is not expected to demand more, as they have given him the promise of a transfer once a suitable offer is received.

Earlier this week, we highlighted Marcos Leonardo’s potential, including his strengths and weaknesses. Another factor that European clubs have reportedly been concerned about is his height, as he stands at 5’9″. However, this is not expected to be a significant hindrance to his move to Europe.

The striker continues to impress both on and off the pitch since his failed transfer in the summer. It remains to be seen whether Tottenham and Newcastle will join the battle for his signature next year.
