Leeds United face a crucial match against Leicester City tonight, well aware that a defeat would only solidify the Foxes’ commanding lead in the Championship. Daniel Farke’s team is currently in exceptional form, having secured four victories in their last five matches. They breezed through October with impressive results, including a recent 4-1 triumph over Huddersfield Town at Elland Road. For the most part, Farke should have little reason to alter the starting lineup, unless there are any lingering issues that necessitate enforced changes. Despite their dominance in the previous game, Leeds know they will have to be near flawless to overcome the Foxes tonight. Defensively, Leeds faced few difficulties, with the exception of Joe Rodon’s crucial last-minute block to prevent Delano Burgzorg from equalizing. This opportunity arose from a sloppy moment on the ball from Jamie Shackleton, who struggled in his performance as a right-back. Leeds’ weak point appears to be at right-back while Djed Spence recovers. Shackleton showed improvement once he shifted to left-back, displaying more comfort despite playing on his weaker side. This suggests that Leeds should consider a change at right-back. Luke Ayling’s lackluster performance and shaky moments against Huddersfield did little to reinforce the defense. Considering that Archie Gray is rested and hopefully rejuvenated, he seems like a viable option on the right side of defense. While Shackleton possesses endurance and Ayling has physicality to play at right-back, Gray offers a solid combination of both qualities and is more competent in possession. Stephy Mavididi will undoubtedly pose a significant threat to whoever plays in that position, but among the available options other than Spence, Gray might be the best choice if he has fully recovered.
