The iconic winger is revered as a Leicester City legend, but it seems that some of his teammates have a bone to pick with him.
Since joining the Foxes in 2014, Marc Albrighton has been a key player in the club’s incredible journey, including their memorable Premier League and FA Cup wins.
While many of Albrighton’s teammates chose to leave following their triumph in 2016, such as Riyad Mahrez and N’Golo Kante, Albrighton remained loyal to Leicester City to further solidify his iconic status.
Due to his esteemed reputation, Albrighton was entrusted with the responsibility of managing the players’ penalty fines within the Leicester dressing room. However, this role was temporarily interrupted when he was loaned out to West Brom last season.
What made matters worse was that Albrighton didn’t return the money, as James Maddison hilariously disclosed on Sky’s A League of Their Own.
Maddison, who played alongside Albrighton until his recent move to Tottenham, revealed the amusing incident regarding missing fines at Leicester City. He shared, “Normally, the money goes into a kitty for a night out during Christmas or something. Last year, Marc Albrighton was in charge of it, but when he went on loan to West Brom in January, he took the money with him, so we never got to have a night out.”
With a mischievous grin directed at the camera, the English midfielder humorously added, “He’ll be watching as well, we want that!”
Although Leicester City is enjoying a successful season in the Championship, it is safe to say that there will definitely be a memorable celebration this Christmas. However, one can only hope that Albrighton does not find himself out on loan yet again.
