Middlesbrough is currently facing a setback with six first-team players injured, including Riley McGree and Darragh Lenihan.
According to Michael Carrick, McGree is still ‘a number of weeks’ away from returning, with other injured players even further behind. McGree has been missing for several weeks due to a complicated foot issue, while Tommy Smith is out for the season and Sonny Finch and Lewis O’Brien not expected back until the New Year after surgery. The status of Darragh Lenihan (Achilles) and Marcus Forss (thigh) remains unclear, making it difficult to predict when they will return.
Carrick provided an update after a week off, stating that there are no new issues expected for the next game against Leicester City. However, the chances of getting McGree, Lenihan, or Forss back soon seem slim, despite the upcoming international break.
Despite the challenges, Carrick praised the efforts of the squad players who have stepped up in the absence of key players. Boro managed to win six league games in a row without the injured players, but the recent schedule has taken its toll on the team, resulting in just one point from the last two league games.
