Leicester star still expected to be on club’s radar for January after summer interest

Brendan Rodgers’ exclusion of Jannik Vestergaard from Leicester City’s first team seems like a distant memory now that Enzo Maresca is in charge and the Foxes are leading the table. As a result, the centre-back has also made a return to the Denmark squad, which has boosted his spirits, but it has also caught the attention of other clubs, including Anderlecht.

According to reports from HLN and Walfoot, Anderlecht are considering signing a new centre-back following a recent injury to Jan Vertonghen, and Vestergaard is one of the options they are looking at, having shown interest in him over the summer. Viborg defender Nicolas Bürgy is also reportedly on their radar, but any potential January signings would have to be patient, as Anderlecht prefers to stick with Vertonghen and Zeno Debast for the rest of the season.

It remains to be seen whether Vestergaard would be open to the idea of joining Anderlecht, especially considering Leicester’s strong position in the Championship and his important role in the team under Maresca’s management.
