Tottenham and Barcelona will go head-to-head to sign Leicester Playmaker January

It has been reported by Nigerian outlet Punch Sports Extra that Tottenham Hotspur and Barcelona are poised to compete for Wilfred Ndidi’s signature in January.

Tottenham’s interest in Ndidi became public last week when TEAMtalk revealed that the Lilywhites are among several Premier League clubs considering a move for the midfielder, whose current contract with the King Power Stadium ends next summer.

The report also mentioned competition from Newcastle, Aston Villa, and Brentford for the 26-year-old’s services.

Recent reports from Spanish newspaper Sport, as relayed by Sky Sports’ live transfer centre, have indicated that Barcelona has joined the race for the Leicester star, along with Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid, and Juventus expressing interest in the player’s availability.

Punch Sport Extra now claims that Ndidi is prepared to make a ‘huge switch’ once the transfer window reopens in January.

The outlet suggests that currently, the battle for the Nigeria international’s signature appears to be between Tottenham and Barca.

However, the report does not discount the possibility of Ndidi extending his contract at Leicester, provided Enzo Maresca’s men remain in contention for an automatic promotion.

Even if Ndidi does not renew his contract with Leicester before January, it is possible that the club may opt to retain him. Premier League promotion holds much more value for the Foxes than the amount they would forego by allowing the midfielder to reach the end of his contract.
