Enzo Maresca plans to meet with Leicester City’s leadership during the international break to map out their strategy for the January transfer window in hopes of strengthening their team.
Despite holding the top spot in the Championship table, Maresca believes there is always room for improvement and wants to ensure the squad is as strong as possible. Discussions will take place with director of football Jon Rudkin and the recruitment team to assess their potential dealings in the transfer market.
The team was interested in signing a new midfielder before the close of the summer transfer window, but those plans fell through. With players like Denis Praet returning from injury and Wilfred Ndidi heading to the Africa Cup of Nations, Maresca may look to reinforce other areas of the team, such as bringing in a new left-sided defender.
While they have been linked to former Blackburn and Nottingham Forest forward Ben Brereton Diaz, Leicester City still has a range of options upfront, even with potential departures in January. Additionally, some players may also depart, leading to potential goalkeeper vacancies.
Maresca is keen to ensure the team is well-equipped for any upcoming challenges and will address the current gaps in the squad during the upcoming discussions.
