During the summer transfer window, Tottenham Hotspur expressed interest in potentially signing Giorgio Scalvini, a talented defender from Atalanta.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham considered Scalvini as a potential addition to their team. However, their move for Micky van de Ven limited their budget for other defenders.
Despite not securing Scalvini, Tottenham is expected to continue their search for defensive options in the upcoming transfer window. While homegrown prospects like Trevoh Chalobah, Lloyd Kelly, and Tosin Adarabioyo are being considered, Tottenham has also shown interest in Scalvini.
Romano describes Scalvini as a very talented and promising player, despite not being widely recognized in Europe. He revealed that Tottenham had secretly considered signing Scalvini, but ultimately decided against it due to Atalanta’s high asking price.
Scalvini, who hails from Italy’s Lombardy region, has been with Atalanta for eight years and has made over 60 appearances for the first team. At just 19 years old, he has also represented Italy at the international level and recently won an award for the Best Italian Under-21 Player at the Golden Boy Awards.
Even if Tottenham doesn’t sign him, it’s likely that Scalvini will find his way to the Premier League in the future due to his promising potential.
