Former Leicester manager confirms ‘brilliant’ ally has left Leicester City for Celtic

The former Leicester manager has confirmed that Leicester City analyst Jack Lyons has re-joined Celtic.

Rodgers initially brought Lyons to Leicester from Celtic in the summer of 2019, after the two had previously worked together during Rodgers’ first stint as manager at Park Head. Lyons was responsible for post-match analysis at Leicester and was praised publicly by former midfielder James Maddison.

After Rodgers returned to Celtic earlier this year, following his departure from Leicester in April, it was announced that performance guru Glen Driscoll had also left Leicester to join him. Rodgers has now confirmed that a second staff member has followed him north of the border.

Praising his coaching staff at Celtic, Rodgers told The Scotsman: “And obviously Jack Lyons. I brought in Jack as a very young, talented coach who is analytically brilliant. He can analyze and present that to players too.”

Maddison also spoke about his collaboration with Lyons back in January 2021, saying: “Me, the gaffer, and Jack the analyst sat down and looked at where I could get more goals. Playing a bit deeper, I was a No 8 today, little things like breaking into the box, getting beyond that line and almost smelling where the ball is going to drop. It is not an easy thing to do.”
