LeicestershireLive has reported that Leicester City is considering a potential compensation claim against Everton amid a takeover attempt by 777 Partners. The new owners, 777 Partners, are reportedly aware of possible claims from clubs as they bid to take over Everton.
Everton is facing a 10-point penalty for breaching the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules, which has led to potential compensation claims from other clubs, including Leicester City. The Foxes narrowly missed relegation last season, finishing just behind Everton, but they could have been saved if the case against Everton had been resolved earlier.
Reports suggest that Leicester could pursue a £100m compensation claim, leading to speculation that 777 Partners may back out of the takeover deal. However, it has been reported that 777 Partners are fully committed to the takeover and have taken possible compensation claims into account during their due diligence process.
The Miami-based 777 Partners are currently undergoing the Premier League’s owners’ and directors’ tests in their attempt to buy out Farhad Moshiri and take control of Everton.
