With the international break behind them, the Hornets are gearing up to head to the King Power Stadium on Saturday (November 25, 3pm KO) to take on table-toppers Leicester City.
Ahead of the exciting Sky Bet Championship clash, we take a look at five players who have had careers with both Watford and the Foxes.
Former England international Tom Cleverley started his career at Manchester United before joining Leicester City on loan in 2008. He then went on to play for Watford, scoring 11 goals in 33 appearances during his loan spell. Cleverley later made a permanent move to Watford and retired in 2023.
David Connolly, a talented forward, began his career at Watford before moving to Leicester City in 2004, becoming their top scorer in his first season with the club.
Another Manchester United youngster, Danny Drinkwater, joined Watford on loan in 2011 before making a permanent move to Leicester City in 2012. He played a key role in the Foxes’ Premier League-winning campaign under former Watford Head Coach Claudio Ranieri.
Kevin Phillips, who came through Southampton’s youth academy, played for Watford before joining Leicester City in 2014, where he ended his career as a player and began coaching.
Steve Sims, a center-back, started his career with Leicester City before setting a record transfer fee when he joined Watford. He played a crucial role in Watford’s promotion to the top-flight and won the club’s Player of the Season award. Sims also later played for Aston Villa under the guidance of Graham Taylor.
