Leicester City notebook: Brazilian transfer dream would be unique with young duo out for a month

Leicester City’s latest news and analysis includes rumors about the potential transfer of Sao Paulo defender Lucas Beraldo, the injury absences of Sammy Braybrooke and Wanya Marcal, and more.

Despite past rumors of signing a South American player, Leicester City has yet to make it happen. Lucas Beraldo, the latest mention, fits the profile of someone City would be interested in – young, left-footed, and a promising talent having represented Brazil at the Under-20 level. However, the hefty price tag, competition from other clubs, and previous failed attempts to sign South American players make this transfer unlikely in January.

As for the injured players, Sammy Braybrooke and Wanya Marcal are both expected to be out for a month, affecting the team’s options and strategies. Coach Ben Petty anticipates their return in January, with recent returns of other players to the Under-21 team showing positive signs.

In preparation for the FA Cup trip to Millwall, Leicester’s coach company Ausden Clark has opted not to run their Fosse Supporters Travel scheme, citing concerns for the safety and security of passengers due to previous incidents of anti-social behavior directed toward away coaches during visits to Millwall in 2021. Fox Travel services, provided by the club, will be running for the game instead.
