Leicester City is reportedly in talks to acquire Matt O’Riley during the upcoming January transfer window. The Celtic star was in high demand last summer and attracted interest from several clubs, including Leeds. Despite not finalizing a deal, the interest in O’Riley has not waned, as both Leeds and Newcastle, along with Leicester City, are reportedly considering making a move next month. O’Riley recently signed a new contract with Celtic, and the club has set a price tag of £25 million for the 23-year-old. If he is sold for this amount, it would be a record fee in the Scottish league, matching the fee Arsenal paid for Kieran Tierney in 2019. The high price tag may hinder the Championship clubs from securing a deal, as a Premier League side could swoop in instead. If a deal is not reached in January, both clubs may wait until the summer transfer window to make a move for O’Riley. However, with interest from clubs like Newcastle, there is no guarantee he will still be available by then.
