Jurgen Klopp praises Premier League star with 52 goals once linked with Liverpool; calls him his ‘favourite’ player

The manager of Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp, has expressed his admiration for West Ham’s star player Jarrod Bowen. The Reds dominated West Ham with a 5-1 victory at Anfield, securing their spot in the semi-finals of the League Cup.

The game was heavily in Liverpool’s favor, with the team attempting 29 shots compared to West Ham’s mere 2. West Ham’s first shot of the game came in the 70th minute, with Jarrod Bowen scoring their only goal in the 77th minute.

Despite the one-sided outcome, Bowen’s incredible finish gave West Ham a glimmer of hope, bringing the score to 3-1 before Liverpool scored two more goals to seal their victory.

Klopp had praised Bowen before the game, referring to him as his “favorite player” outside of his current squad. Speaking to Sky Sports, Klopp stated, “Playing without Antonio, and Bowen steps up in that position – probably my favorite player besides my players. It’s just great what he’s doing and how he develops.”

This is not the first time Klopp has publicly praised Bowen, having done so twice before in pre-match interviews. Bowen has also been linked with a move to Liverpool in the past, particularly in the summer of 2021.

He has been a standout player for West Ham this season, scoring 10 goals in 16 league games. In total, he has scored 52 career goals and made 35 assists in 180 appearances for the club.

Whether Klopp’s continued admiration for Bowen could lead to a future move to Anfield remains to be seen.
