Following a disappointing turn of events, Joe Mattock has made his way back to Harrogate Town from his loan stint at Hartlepool United, following a setback in the form of a hamstring injury sustained during training. Regrettably, this injury is anticipated to sideline the defender for an extended period, extending beyond the conclusion of his loan agreement with Hartlepool.
Mattock had embarked on his loan with Hartlepool in October, transitioning from League Two to the National League after a limited five appearances for the Sulphurites in the initial phase of the season. The former Leicester City youth defender’s debut for Pools occurred in a match against Halifax Town, and he had seamlessly integrated into the lineup under the management of John Askey, featuring in eight successive games up to the encounter with Wealdstone.
Unfortunately, Mattock’s fortunes took a turn for the worse after grappling with illness before Hartlepool’s scheduled journey to London before Christmas. Subsequently, the player encountered a hamstring issue during training, marking a frustrating turn of events, which is now expected to keep the 33-year-old out of action for an extended period.
