City’s current midfield options, including Cesare Casadei, Wilfred Ndidi, and Dennis Praet, do not perfectly fill the gap Maddison left. Maresca has expressed interest in signing a midfielder with a profile similar to Maddison, and there have been reports linking City to Bodo/Glimt’s Albert Gronbaek.
Gronbaek, a 22-year-old Danish midfielder, has garnered attention for his impressive performances and goal-scoring abilities. His skill set resembles that of Maddison, making him a potential ideal signing for City.
While City is not in urgent need of a new midfielder at the moment, the potential addition of Gronbaek in January could significantly strengthen the team, especially if they secure promotion. His presence could make a strong statement to the rest of the Championship.
