Premier League stars who played for England’s C team – and one that got away

Mick Payne, the coach of the England C team, has spent more than 20 years scouting talented players who have come through the non-league ranks. Many of these players have gone on to become stars in the Premier League. Payne is continually impressed by the quality of players he has worked with on the national team that represents England at non-league level.

During an interview with The Mirror, Payne highlighted some of the notable players who have made the jump from England C to the Premier League. Ethan Pinnock, Kieffer Moore, Jamal Lowe, and Jamie Vardy, to name a few, have all donned the Three Lions jersey at non-league level before moving on to play at higher levels.

According to Payne, approximately 200 players who have played for England C have gone on to play in the Football League. He emphasized the importance of determination and desire for players who may have lost their way in the football world, but who still have the potential to make a comeback and regain the attention of scouts.

As Payne keeps an eye on the England C team, he believes that one player, Tyler Cordner, has the potential to become the next big thing in the EFL. He also stressed that playing for England C can serve as a stepping stone to bigger opportunities for ambitious players.

Payne wants players to recognize the opportunity to represent their country at non-league level and to understand the potential for future growth in their careers. He reiterated that scouts are always observing and taking note of standout performers, emphasizing that the determination to succeed is crucial for players who aim to navigate the competitive world of non-league football.
