According to an injury update from Hammers given to Claret and Hugh, Aguerd is unlikely to play in the game against Arsenal on Thursday due to a bad case of the flu. It will be up to him to declare himself fit to play. Additionally, Maxwel Cornet is believed to be sick as well.
Although the flu bug seems to be receding throughout the squad, the absence of Cornet will have little impact on the team’s selection. However, Aguerd’s absence will be felt as his passing and ability to carry the ball out of defense would be very useful against a team like Arsenal.
Mikey Antonio remains unfit, but is close to recovery. It is uncertain if he will be utilized, given the club’s new striking options through Paqueta, Bowen, and Kudus.
Arsenal will be without Kai Havertz due to suspension, and several players including Takehiro Tomiyasu, Fabio Vieira, Thomas Partey, and Jurrien Timber continue to be sidelined due to injury.
The Hammers likely lineup for the game will include: Areola, Coufal, Zouma, Mavropanos, Emerson, Alvarez, Soucek, Paqueta, Ward-Prowse, Kudus, Bowen.
