Leicester City Dealt £17 Million Blow Ahead Of January

Leicester City’s hopes of signing Sao Paulo defender Lucas Beraldo have been dashed as he is set to join Paris Saint-Germain in the upcoming January transfer window. Reports from ESPN and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed that the 20-year-old is close to completing a £17 million move to the Ligue 1 champions after undergoing a medical.

Initially, Leicester City had shown interest in the Brazilian centre-back and were reportedly preparing a bid for him. They were considered front-runners to secure his signature, especially with Enzo Maresca looking to strengthen the team’s defense. The potential transfer also made sense in light of Harry Souttar’s uncertain future at the club.

However, PSG’s offer matched Leicester’s bid and the French club ultimately won the race for Beraldo, leaving Maresca to consider other defensive targets such as Joe Worrall from Nottingham Forest. While it seemed likely that Leicester would sign Beraldo, PSG’s involvement made it an impossible task for the Foxes to persuade him to move to the Championship.
