Player dump Leicester: heads for medical with another club

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that the player, a target for Leicester City, is on the verge of sealing a transfer to PSG. The 20-year-old highly-rated Sao Paulo center-back Lucas Beraldo had attracted interest from the Foxes, who have been aiming for a successful return to the Premier League this season, according to information relayed by Jorge Nicola (via Caught Offside).

However, the latest development, as reported by Romano, signifies that the player is scheduled to undergo a ‘medical’ in France within the next 24 hours, in preparation for a €20 million move to PSG. This turn of events dashes Enzo Maresca’s aspirations of bringing the talented youngster to the King Power Stadium during the upcoming winter transfer window.

This outcome represents a setback for Leicester City, considering Beraldo’s potential as a long-term defensive asset. Nonetheless, competing with PSG in this particular pursuit would have posed a significant challenge for the Foxes.

Beraldo commenced his career with stints at União Barbarense and XV de Piracicaba before joining Sao Paulo in 2020. Since then, he has made significant strides within the first team, amassing 48 appearances for the club this year. However, like several young Brazilians before him, he is now poised for a move to Europe.

In light of these developments, Leicester City may need to consider alternative targets, redirecting their focus due to the imminent transfer setback. The team’s primary objective remains centered on their pursuit of the Championship title, with a current six-point advantage over Ipswich Town following a recent 1-1 draw with their opponents.

Maresca’s side has displayed commendable form this season, and they’re set to resume action with an away fixture against Cardiff City tomorrow night, further emphasizing the team’s determination to maintain their strong performance on the pitch.
