New club interested in Leicester City transfer as long-term links persist

As the January transfer window looms, Royal Antwerp has emerged as the latest potential suitor for Leicester City midfielder Dennis Praet. Since returning from a loan spell with Torino in the summer of 2022, Praet has been consistently tied to rumors of leaving the King Power Stadium. Despite his loan club trying to make the deal permanent, they did not offer enough to convince City to make the transfer.

Last summer, Praet was also linked to a potential move to Real Betis, but the transfer never came to fruition. With just six months left on his current deal, this January marks the last opportunity for City to secure a fee for the player if he does not sign a new deal.

Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri has reported that Royal Antwerp has shown interest in Praet, gathering information on his situation in preparation for the January window. Praet has been plagued by a back injury for most of the current season but has managed to feature in three of the last five games. According to manager Enzo Maresca, Praet should be fit to join the squad for tonight’s Championship clash against Cardiff City.

In his career, Praet began in the youth teams of City’s sister club OH Leuven before moving to Genk in 2003. He then made his first team debut with Anderlecht in 2011 before transferring to Sampdoria five years later.
