Tempers boiled over during Tottenham’s 3-1 victory against Bournemouth as Ange Postecoglou was seen angrily confronting a member of the opposing team’s staff.
Goals from Pape Matar Sarr, Heung-min Son, and Richarlison secured the win for Spurs after their previous defeat to Brighton.
Late in the game, Alejo Veliz suffered an injury, prompting Postecoglou and Giovani Lo Celso to signal for him to receive treatment.
A member of the Bournemouth coaching staff took offense to this and appeared to shout at Postecoglou in response, leading to a confrontation on the touchline and Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola intervening.
The arguments continued and both Postecoglou and Lo Celso received bookings, while Veliz had to be substituted, visibly upset.
Postecoglou addressed the touchline clash after the game in a lighthearted manner, stating: “We all just came together to wish each other a Happy New Year and make some resolutions.”
Although Spurs came away with the win, it was a challenging afternoon as Sarr was substituted due to injury, Son played his last game before leaving for the Asia Cup, and Richarlison sealed the win before Alex Scott scored a consolation goal for Bournemouth.
With this win, Spurs are now just one point behind north London rivals Arsenal, who lost 2-1 against Fulham.
