AS Monaco is on the verge of securing a deal to acquire Thilo Kehrer (27), the centre-back from West Ham United, as reported by Fabrizio Romano. Despite their strong position at third place in Ligue 1, Monaco has struggled defensively and is understandably looking to strengthen in the summer. While negotiations for the signing of Lilian Brassier (24) from Stade Brestois are ongoing, it appears that another deal is close to being finalized.
According to Romano, Monaco is expected to outpace other teams to secure the signing of the German international centre-back. OGC Nice, Stade Rennais, and Bayern Munich had all shown interest in acquiring Kehrer. As previously reported by Foot Mercato, Monaco is interested in a loan deal for Kehrer, who has played a limited role at West Ham this season. It remains unclear whether the loan deal will include an option to make the move permanent.
Kehrer’s return to Ligue 1 seems inevitable at this point. The German previously left Paris Saint-Germain to join West Ham in August 2022.
