19-year-old STRIKER EAGER FOR STARTING XI-Ange Postecoglou not taking chances

In Premier League 2, the 18-year-old player has caught the attention while playing alongside Alfie Dorrington, and they have also paired up in defense for England’s Under-19s.

Despite being on the bench multiple times this season, the young centre-back has yet to make his senior debut, even though Tottenham has faced significant injury issues in defense.

When Emerson Royal and Ben Davies started at centre-back against Bournemouth, Ange Postecoglou decided to bring on Eric Dier instead of the promising teenager for added defensive support towards the end of the game.

Pundit Morrison suggested to Sky Sports (31/12/23 1:25 pm) that Phillips should be given a chance to showcase his skills in the first team, particularly since he came from Blackburn and was positioned next to Ben Davies.

Criticism has also been directed at Postecoglou on social media from some Spurs fans for not giving opportunities to Phillips and Dorrington.

Ultimately, it’s difficult to know if these players are ready for the Premier League, and it’s important to trust the judgement of Ange and the coaching staff who watch them train regularly.
