Despite being included in the Super Eagles’ final 25-man list, the chances of Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho recovering in time for the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations are uncertain. Both players missed Leicester City’s last fixture, with Ndidi not included in the squad for the 4-1 win against Huddersfield and Iheanacho’s last match being the 1-1 draw with Ipswich on Boxing Day. Leicester City manager Enzo Maresca stated that both players are injured and are serious doubts for the AFCON, with their availability depending on the decision of the international team.
