According to Alan Hutton, Tottenham would need to be prepared to invest over £50 million if they are serious about securing the services of Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke. The 26-year-old has been enjoying an impressive season with the Cherries, having scored 12 times in the Premier League, placing him third in the Golden Boot race, just two goals behind Erling Haaland and Mohamed Salah.
Solanke’s outstanding performances have captured the attention of several top Premier League clubs. The Sun reported on 25 December that he is on Spurs’ radar, while sources revealed to TEAMtalk that his valuation could reach £50 million.
Speaking with Tottenham News, former Spurs defender Hutton remarked that current transfer figures are “incredible,” but he acknowledged that it would likely reflect the standard market rate, especially considering the position he believes Tottenham requires reinforcement.
Hutton stated, “I think it has to be £50m-plus, doesn’t it? He’s at a good age, he knows the league. I think his form’s been excellent, he showed Tottenham obviously what he’s capable of against them. I thought he played really well, he was a nuisance, a constant threat.”
While conceding the lofty nature of current transfer fees, Hutton emphasized, “It’s difficult to put numbers on because some of them at this moment in time, it’s incredible figures but you’d have to be thinking £50m-plus anyway.”
He also highlighted the potential negotiations with Bournemouth, noting that while the club won’t want to part ways with Solanke, they may find it challenging to resist a substantial offer.
Hutton further emphasized the necessity for a striker at Tottenham, recognizing the challenges of securing such a pivotal player in the January transfer window. The outcome will indeed be intriguing to observe.
