£85,000-per-week star set to seal deal with West Ham

West Ham technical director Tim Steidten is gearing up to make a move for Steven Bergwijn, who is reportedly on a high £85,000-a-week salary at Ajax, as reported by the Daily Mirror.

According to Mirror writer Ryan Taylor, the Hammers have already initiated talks with Bergwijn’s agency Muy Manero and are now ready to pursue the signing of the 26-year-old Netherlands international.

This comes after Steidten’s successful dealings with Ajax in the summer, bringing in Mohammed Kudus and Edson Alvarez to the London Stadium.

Bergwijn has had a tough time since his move to Tottenham, making only 83 appearances and scoring eight goals before eventually returning to Ajax, where he has been one of the stand-out performers in an otherwise disappointing season for the club.

Despite his struggles, Bergwijn still feels he has a point to prove in the Premier League, and with Steidten’s track record in the transfer market, the Hammers seem poised to make a strong bid for the talented winger.
