Napoli have decided to change their transfer plans and are now focused on securing Leicester City’s Boubakary Soumare instead of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. The Serie A club is looking to reinforce their midfield in hopes of a stronger performance in the second half of the season.
Hojbjerg was initially a target due to his limited playing time at Tottenham, but Napoli was unable to meet Tottenham’s demands for the player. As a result, they have shifted their attention to Soumare, believing that the Frenchman will be a more cost-effective option.
This decision from Napoli comes after reports that Juventus are also hesitating in pursuing Hojbjerg, possibly delaying their efforts until next summer. The financial strain on clubs outside of the Premier League due to the pandemic has made it challenging for Tottenham to offload their players, creating difficulties for the transfer market in the coming years.
