IT’S OFFICIAL- DONE DEAL: MEDICALS TOMORROW: Werner flies into London

Timo Werner deal agreed as former Chelsea star flies into London for Tottenham medical.
Timo Werner scored 23 goals in 89 appearance for Chelsea but is now set to join rivals Tottenham.

Timo Werner, the former Chelsea striker, has made his way to London in anticipation of his medical with Tottenham on Tuesday, signaling a potential return to the Premier League. It has been confirmed that the German will be signing a six-month deal with the north London club, with the option for a permanent transfer in the summer for a fee of approximately £15 million.

Werner has had limited playing time this season, making only two Bundesliga starts for RB Leipzig, with manager Marco Rose favoring Belgian forward Lois Openda over him. The move to Tottenham is seen as a beneficial opportunity for Werner to regain playing time and potentially secure a spot on the German national team for the Euros. Additionally, he aims to prove his capabilities in the Premier League after leaving Chelsea with 23 goals in 89 appearances, despite winning the Champions League with the club.

For Tottenham, the addition of Werner provides coverage upfront, especially with club captain Son Heung-min set to be absent for at least a month due to his participation in the Asian Cup. There are also concerns over a potential long-term knee injury for Alejo Veliz. Bringing in an experienced Premier League player at a reasonable risk is seen as good business for the north London club, with the potential for a permanent deal at a later stage.

The deal is expected to be finalized soon, and Werner could potentially be available for Tottenham’s upcoming Premier League match against Manchester United.
