Tottenham to battle Liverpool to sign incredible 26-year-old playmaker

Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur have set their sights on Borussia Monchengladbach’s Ko Itakura, as per reports from Germany. Sky Deutschland has reported that both clubs have expressed interest in the defender, with a potential move to the Premier League on the cards.

Itakura, who was signed by Borussia Monchengladbach from Manchester City for a mere €5m in 2022, has a release clause in his contract that could see him available for €15m next summer. However, it is uncertain whether this clause will be valid during the current transfer window.

Tottenham’s interest in Itakura is said to stem from Ange Postecoglou’s desire to bring the player to Celtic during his tenure at the club. Now, with the manager at Tottenham, the potential transfer could reignite.

As for Liverpool, it is reported that manager Jurgen Klopp has been keeping a close eye on the 26-year-old defender. Itakura’s lack of playing time at Manchester City has fueled his desire to prove himself in the Premier League, making a potential return to English football an enticing prospect.
