Enzo Maresca, coach of Leicester City, was caught off guard when Chelsea decided to recall Italian prospect Cesare Casadei from his loan ahead of schedule. Initially set to spend the season with Leicester, Casadei is now expected to join Mauricio Pochettino’s squad for training.
The decision to bring Casadei back to Chelsea is believed to be influenced by concerns about Enzo Fernandez’s injury as well as his position on the first team. Maresca expressed surprise at the news, acknowledging that there was little they could do since Chelsea owned the player.
Despite the setback, Leicester is determined to make the best of the situation and explore other options before the transfer window closes. Casadei had been a key player for the team, featuring in 22 out of 25 Championship matches and contributing two goals from midfield.
In the meantime, Leicester has been reportedly pursuing a deal with Inter for another Italian midfielder, 28-year-old Stefano Sensi.
