In the past few weeks, Tottenham Hotspur have been associated with the up-and-coming Belgian talent Arthur Vermeeren. Unfortunately, it seems that the Royal Antwerp midfielder will not be joining Tottenham after all. 90Min previously reported that Spurs, along with several other top Premier League clubs, were interested in signing Vermeeren. However, according to Fabrizio Romano, Atletico Madrid has now reached a verbal agreement with Antwerp to secure a deal for the 18-year-old. This news suggests that while Spurs may have missed out on Vermeeren, at least he won’t be joining any Premier League rivals. Vermeeren has generated significant interest from numerous top clubs, with scouts praising his exceptional talent. Tottenham legend Toby Alderweireld, who is the captain of Antwerp, has also spoken highly of Vermeeren, describing him as having enormous potential.
