British billionaire Joe Lewis, whose family trust controls a majority of Tottenham Hotspur, has pleaded guilty to U.S. insider trading charges in New York. The 86-year-old pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit securities fraud and two counts of securities fraud as part of an agreement with the U.S. Attorney’s office in Manhattan. Lewis apologized to the judge for his conduct, acknowledging the wrongfulness of his actions. He was also charged in 2023 with passing on inside information to private pilots and other associates, allowing them to make millions in profits. Lewis remains free on a $300 million bond but is limited in his travel and business activities. His sentencing is scheduled for March 28.
