As the transfer window deadline approaches, manager Enzo Maresca is urgently looking to bolster the Leicester City midfield with a player who brings a stronger physical presence to the team.
With key midfielder Wilfred Ndidi sidelined until early April due to injury and Cesare Casadei recalled by Chelsea, City find themselves in need of a towering figure in the center of the pitch. Maresca had previously expressed a desire for a pair of midfield signings, emphasizing the lack of options in the squad.
Although he still admires the technical abilities of Inter Milan’s Stefano Sensi, Maresca stressed the necessity of a player with strong physical attributes to fill the void left by Ndidi and Casadei. He acknowledged that his team struggled to adapt to their absence during the draw with Ipswich and is now actively seeking a different kind of player, emphasizing the need for physicality.
While discussions with head of recruitment Martyn Glover continue to explore potential new additions, City faces the challenge of selling players to make room within their budget. Despite interest from Brighton in Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, the proposed £20m offer falls short of City’s valuation, meaning the club may need to adjust their plan to secure the addition of a physical midfielder and perhaps also acquire Sensi before the transfer window closes.
