West Ham and Nottingham Forest, both from the Premier League, made moves on deadline day to try to secure a loan deal for Arouna Sangante, a talented 21-year-old defender from Le Havre. However, Le Havre was only willing to consider a permanent sale of Sangante, which prevented the negotiations from moving forward. Despite efforts to raise funds, neither team was able to secure a deal for the highly-rated centre-back. Sangante, who is Le Havre’s captain, signed a contract extension with the French side that runs until June 2026. He has attracted attention from top European clubs and has made 17 appearances this season. While primarily a centre-back, Sangante can also play right-back and played a key role in Le Havre’s promotion from Ligue 2 last year. West Ham is currently in sixth place in the Premier League, while Nottingham Forest is in 16th place and has recently made three signings despite facing Financial Fair Play charges. In other news, Liverpool has turned their attention to a player from West Ham.
