CONFIRMED: West Ham boosted by key return for Man United clash but so is Erik ten Hag

West Ham is set to benefit from a key player’s return as they prepare to face off against Man United at Old Trafford. The match is a crucial one in the battle for a top six spot in the Premier League standings.

A recent victory by Aston Villa has all but ended any hopes for West Ham or Man United of finishing in the top four, creating an 11-point gap with 16 games remaining. However, a Champions League spot is still up for grabs for the team securing fifth place, making the upcoming clash between West Ham and Man United of utmost importance in their race to close the gap on Tottenham and secure sixth place by the end of the weekend.

In the event of a draw, West Ham will maintain their position for another week, while a victory would open up a four-point gap on seventh place and bring them closer to Tottenham by five. Conversely, a win for Man United would see them leapfrog the Hammers in the standings.

West Ham’s strong start to 2024 has been marred by recent struggles, but the team is confident in their ability to take on the Red Devils, having already beaten them 2-0 in the reverse fixture. Manager David Moyes and his side are aware of the challenge but are determined to put up a strong fight.

The return of defender Vladimir Coufal, following his one-game ban, will provide a boost for West Ham. Similarly, Man United’s manager Erik ten Hag is hopeful to have three key players available who had previously been questionable due to injury – Lisandro Martinez, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Victor Lindelof. Ten Hag has reassured that Martinez’s setback in the previous game was merely precautionary, despite being seen wearing a heavily strapped left foot.

The highly anticipated match between Man United and West Ham is scheduled for a 2pm kick-off, and will be broadcast live on Sky Sports.
