Portuguese club held firm amid Leicester City’s late bid to sign 23-year-old, report claims

Leicester City’s attempt to sign Gabriel Pereira from Gil Vicente fell through late in the transfer window, according to a report from UOL Esporte. The team is currently leading the Championship table but was looking to strengthen its squad in January. Despite their efforts, no new players were brought in.

Inter Milan’s Stefano Sensi was a potential target, but the deal also collapsed at the last minute. The Foxes reportedly tried to secure Pereira as an alternative to Lucas Beraldo, who ended up joining PSG instead. However, Gil Vicente refused to let go of Pereira, indicating that they may be more open to a deal in the summer.

If Leicester City decides to revisit their pursuit of Pereira in the future, Gil Vicente may be more willing to negotiate. The team’s need for a new center-back is also apparent, with Callum Doyle on loan from Manchester City and Jannik Vestergaard’s contract expiring soon. Pereira has performed well for Gil Vicente this season, making him a promising target for Leicester City in the future.
