At only 30 years old, Areola still has a lot of potential as a goalkeeper. However, the 38-year-old Fabianski’s career is likely winding down. This raises the possibility of a younger goalkeeper stepping up within the team.
One potential option for the future is Krisztian Hegyi, who is currently on loan with Dutch team FC Den Bosch. Despite their struggles, Hegyi has made a strong impact, keeping three clean sheets in four appearances and making eight saves.
Hegyi’s impressive performance has earned him an average rating of 7.25 across these four matches. Additionally, he has already been called up to the Hungarian national team, with experience in both the Under 21s and Under 19s squads.
If Hegyi continues to perform well throughout the season, it is clear that West Ham’s future in goalkeeping is in good hands. The team may want to consider extending his contract to secure his place within the squad.
