Joe Mazzulla and the Boston Celtics must have been expecting an easy win when they faced off against the Washington Wizards on Friday night. However, they found themselves trailing at halftime and struggling to keep up with one of the worst teams in the NBA. In an effort to boost morale, Mazzulla tried to inject some humor into the situation by telling a joke in the huddle, but it didn’t seem to have the desired effect.
After the game, Jaylen Brown was asked about Mazzulla’s sense of humor and acknowledged that while the coach does try to be lighthearted, his jokes don’t always land. Jayson Tatum also chimed in, confirming that Mazzulla’s attempts at humor fell flat. Despite the frustration of almost losing to an underdog team, the Celtics can at least take comfort in the fact that they added another win to their impressive 40-12 season record. Their next challenge comes in the form of a nationally televised game against the Miami Heat.
