Athletic Club standout Alex Berenguer has caught the eye of several English clubs, including Brentford, Crystal Palace, Leicester City, and Wolverhampton Wanderers, according to HITC Football.
The 28-year-old, who can play in multiple positions such as winger, wing back, attacking midfielder, and striker, is set to become a free agent in the summer, sparking interest from teams in Serie A, as well as those in Germany and France. However, it is believed that Berenguer is open to a move to the Premier League with increasing interest from English clubs.
Berenguer, originally from Pamplona, Spain, made a name for himself at hometown club Osasuna before making a move to Torino in 2017. After impressing in Italy, he returned to Spanish football with Athletic Club in 2020. Within Athletic, he has been a key player, contributing 25 goals and 18 assists in 153 appearances.
Due to the Basque-only policy at Athletic Club, Osasuna included a clause in Berenguer’s transfer to Torino, ensuring they would receive payment if he ever joined their rivals. With his contract set to expire, the versatile and experienced Berenguer could be a valuable addition for any of the interested English clubs.
