David Moyes faces a challenge in reviving Nayef Aguerd’s tenure as a West Ham United player. The centre-back has struggled this season, becoming a target for opponents and failing to live up to his £28 million price tag since joining from Rennes in 2022. However, there may be hope yet for the Moroccan if Moyes decides to shift his position to left-back. With Aguerd lacking the necessary qualities to excel as a central defender in the Premier League, a move to the left wing could allow him to utilize his speed, tenacious tackling, and athleticism more effectively. This change would also benefit the team by allowing Emerson Palmieri to move to the left-wing and Lucas Paqueta to return to his natural number 10 role. If Moyes is able to make this adjustment, there is still a chance to salvage Aguerd’s West Ham career.
